Description of the wine:
Mamertino: rediscovered by Vasari family, in 2004 obtained the Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC = Denominazione d'Origine Controllata) and became one of the three DOC province of Messina. Each glass of Vasari wine uncovers the scents and flavours of the most noble indigenous varieties of this land: Grillo, Inzolia and Catarratto for white, Nero D'Avola and Nocera for red. Known since Roman times, the Mamertine is a warm and generous wine old in honors, precious and noble towering among the laurels of its ancient and new history. Praised by Pliny, Strabo and many other historians, Mamertine wine was offered by Julius Caesar to toast the victory of one of his consulates. Mamertino Nero d'Avola 2012 won the crown: "Good Wines of Italy" (August 2015).
Nocera: An ancient grape typical and exclusive of the Province of Messina, which 40 years ago was in danger of extinction, reclaimed and replanted at first for the production of Mamertino Rosso and later for its vinification getting a unique wine with particular characteristics.
